Next event.

My next event is the Owen Development Stages at Down Ampney (website). It will be the first outing for any EWR logos! The entry list looks very interesting and there are rumours of a couple more top class drivers filling out the 4wd section so it should be challenging and fun.
I've only ever been to Down Ampney once and that was a very, very unsuccessful event so I'm hoping for better luck this time!

E-mail address.

EWR now has its own e-mail address. It is:~ erik west rallying (at) yahoo (dot) co (dot) uk ~ naturally there are no spaces in the address!

At last!

My new tailor-made, fully embroidered race suit has arrived with a nifty Erik West Rallying logo on each arm as well as a large logo on my back.
The suit was supplied by AAT (link) and is one of their top range suits. It has lots of useful features including co-driver pockets and stretch panels here, there and everywhere. The co-driver pockets are excellent! They allow me to store three pens or pencils on my arm and keep our time cards on my leg.
Compared to my old faithful black suit this new suit is exceptional, it is so comfortable and light I can hardly believe it.
As you can seen it even has my name embroidered in large letters on the right leg just in case I forget who I am.....

Twyford Wood

I've been to Twyford three times now and have yet to finish an event there ~ reasons for retirement:~ two mechanical failures and a large tree!
Numerous problems (see the team's site) meant we were packing up after stage 3 on my latest visit to the venue. Oh well onwards and upwards as they say!

Welcome!

Hi and welcome to my blog.
I have been competing in rallying for 21 years now so it must be about time that I got a blog!
In that time I've sat next to some very quick drivers as well as some very slow drivers too. Luckily I've only sat next to two bad drivers ~ and then only for one rally with each!
I've been lucky enough to compete in both stage and road rallying and to win championship classes in both disciplines.
Currently I'm rallying with Adrian Smekss and the Roofing Rally Team and really enjoying it. We're moving from tarmac to gravel rallies this year which I'm looking forward to. The last time I was rallying regularly in the forests was in 2000 which seems a long, long time ago.
That's a very brief introduction to who I am, there will be more history, reports and thoughts as my blog develops.
